Interested in adoption? Here's how to go about getting your very own Great Dane! 1. Call or e-mail a volunteer. You will want to get to know us and we will want to get to know you. One of the attributes of a responsible Great Dane owner, breeder or rescuer is that they will not give away a Dane to just anybody. We want to know that you understand what Dane ownership is all about and that your home and family are suitable for the kind of Pet a Great Dane is. Go to our contact page for e-mail addresses by clicking here. 2. After satisfactory conversations with a volunteer, you will be sent an application. Please fill out and return this application via mail, e-mail or fax. 3. After receiving your application it will be reviewed by the Dane Angel Network Enterprise Board of Directors. Your application may be denied because we may determine, through your application and conversations with you, that a Great Dane, with its special needs and personality, may not be the best pet for you. A rejection of your application only means that you might want to find a different breed of Dog for a pet, or even a different animal for a pet as your lifestyle might be more suitable for other kinds of pets. 4. Upon approval of your completed application by the Board, you will be notified and we can start matching your family with a Great Dane. Please remember that falling in love with a picture of a Dane does not always mean that Dane is a suitable one for your family or lifestyle. Our knowledgeable and experienced volunteers will help guide you and your family to the right choice. 4. Our adoption fee of $300.00 helps defray the many costs incurred in fostering and preparing our Great Danes for adoption. Costs include spaying/neutering, testing for and treatment of Heart Worms and other parasites, as well as bringing the Great Dane up to date on all shots. Often other medical attention is required while in our foster program causing our costs to exceed greatly the adoption fee. NOTE: Only pre-qualified adopters will be able to take home a Dane from the mobile adoption sites. Please get your applications in as soon as possible.
