DENALI

THIS IS DENALI.......This is a big black 13 month old sweet puppy. He has been severely neglected and malnourished, resulting in poor quality and loss of hair. His feet were terribly infected and swollen to the point of him not wanting to walk on them. The underside of his paws were red, swollen, and badly infected. He was infested with internal parasites, however, luckily he was heartworm negative. Our vets suspect him of having fungus and mange on top of all that. He has been given antibiotics and pain medication and very important good nutrition and is now beginning to recover. He has a wonderful attitude and gets along with dogs of all sizes. He LOVES people! And he is wonderful with the older kids in his foster home. Foster home is totally smitten and in love with him. We know that he rides very well in the car. And he LOVES his babies and toys! He will be a little while recovering from this neglectful condition but his feet are now half the swollen size they were to begin with and not as badly inflamed underneath as when he was rescued. We expect everyone will love this special boy the minute they meet him!

DENALI UPDATE 3-18-09

As can be seen by his pictures, Denali is steadily improving. He continues to improve his strength and body now. His feet are improving but still are not perfectly healed as yet. He doesn't know it though. :-) He plays, loves on everyone, he eats great, has good house manners, meets everyone that visits so well, and continues to grow too. He clearly loves life and is a typical huge puppy. He does need someone who will teach him how big he is, and that manners are essential to being a good boy and fitting well in the world around him. He is not obnoxious, just a puppy that doesn't know his size and his own strength. He is a love bug, and a couch snuggler. He is on a top quality diet (as all dogs should have really) so that his immune system can recover itself and he can be 100% for the first time in his short puppy life. He's getting there tho, and if attitude was enough, he is there already because clearly he has the sweet Dane nature, a love of life, and is the best kid, in our most humble opinions. :-)
