MINNIE

Update Oct 25, 2003

Minnie has almost completed her heartworm treatment.  She is presently charming the sox off her foster mom and is hoping for that special someone that will want to adopt her and love her for the rest of her life.

Minnie is a pretty 5 or 6 year old female that loves every living creature she meets, and she has even nursed baby kittens.  She was given up because her home could not contain her in the yard or afford medical expenses to treat her heartworms and get her spayed.  Her rescuer says she is the nicest Dane she's ever met and is an absolute treasure.  More info coming soon.

Update on Minnie Oct 7, 2003

Minnie has been the favorite at the vet office, making friends with all the staff and by just being an easy going good girl!  She is half way through with her heartworm treatment and has gone back to her foster home to relax on the bed and enjoy being pampered.  She will be spayed after the heartworm treatment is finished.  It has been discovered that Minnie has lumps in one of her breasts which have been determined from the biopsy testing to be benign.  Another biopsy will be done at spaying time.

It was also discovered that somewhere for some UNEARTHLY reason, someone filed her teeth down to the gums!  She wasn't able to chew the hard crunchies because of this filing but we've discovered that she does 'vacuum' the bowl if she is fed canned foods.  Sadly, she has been bred beyond limits and her huge elbow calluses indicate she hasn't had much of a soft, sweet life.  Until now!  We will do our best to shower her with the good things she should have known all along until her forever home comes for her.

In spite of the obvious hard life this girl has lived, she is without a doubt one of the sweetest Danes any one of us has ever met, with a laid back, cooperative personality that meets no stranger and likes everyone.  And no matter what, she always seems happy and waggy.  She will make a very lovely addition to anyone's home and will be a loyal, loving soul mate to walk in the park with or curl up on the couch in front of the fireplace with.  She deserves to have a little pampering and softness given to her for which she will be the forever grateful companion.
